How do I prepare for a neuromodulator/”Botox” appointment?

Washing Your Face

You need to clean your face and ensure that it doesn’t have excess oil, makeup, moisturizers or any other form of dirt. Feel free to use what you normally use to clean your face, such as warm water and soap or a mild cleanser. Please make sure your face is free of makeup. Before your injection the NP will normally sanitize the treatment area with an antiseptic wipe and rubbing alcohol.

Avoid Blood Thinning Medication

One week prior, avoid aspirin, ibuprofen (generic, Advil, Aleve or Motrin), Vitamin E and fish oil or omega-3s to prevent bruising.

Of course, if you are on any prescription blood thinning medication, it is likely not safe to stop them. Please ask your doctor to advice you on what you can and cannot hold.

It is also wise to avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your injections as it makes you more prone to bruising/bleeding.

Don’t skip breakfast

The morning of, consume plenty of food and drink as this will decrease the chances of lightheadedness during the treatment

When will I see results from neuromodulator/ “Botox”?

When injected properly, you can expect to see results after your first treatment. It can take two to four days before the weakening of the muscle begins and movement is stalled.

You can see the maximum results of your treatment anywhere from ten to fourteen days after treatment.

The best part is that maximum results can be seen up to three months after your treatment.

How do I prepare for a microneedling treatment?

Washing your face

You need to clean your face and ensure that it doesn’t have excess oil, makeup, moisturizers or any other form of dirt. Feel free to use what you normally use to clean your face, such as warm water and soap or a mild cleanser. Please make sure your face is free of makeup. Before your injection the NP will normally sanitize the treatment area with an antiseptic wipe and rubbing alcohol.

Avoid Anti-inflammatory medication

This part is important. Because the magic of microneedling treatment lies in controlled inflammation, suppressing inflammation in your body will make the treatment less effective.

One week prior, avoid any anti-inflammatory or NAID medication such as ibuprofen (generic), Advil, Aleve or Motrin.

Also avoid aspirin unless it is prescribed to you.
Tylenol is okay to take.

What device do you use used for microneedling?

We use TWIST, a microneedling device from Dermaroller. It is made in Germany and is approved by Health Canada.

It is the only device on the market with Active Needle Retraction technology, which means that the powerful motor puts the needle in, and also is used to actively retract the needle (vs other devices with spring based mechanisms). This makes the treatment more precise and less painful.

How should I take care of my skin after microneedling?

  • During the first 48 hours, refrain from hot showers, exercise, saunas, and hot tubs.
  • Ensure a fresh pillowcase for the night after your treatment and refresh your pillowcase every 2-3 days.
  • During the first 24 hours, avoid sun exposure and do not use sunscreen (after 24 hours, apply only mineral sunscreen during daytime and continue to avoid sun exposure as much as possible).
  • Avoid unnecessary contact with the treated area. Do not pick the skin and wash your hands frequently.
  • During the first 24 hours, apply only Dermaroller® Hyaluronic acid serum (HA ampules/dispenser) to sooth the skin and keep it well-hydrated.
  • For further hydration and comfort, apply Dermaroller® HA mask up to twice a day.
  • Avoid makeup for 24 hours.
  • IMPORTANT: Do not pick the skin/wounds during the entire healing period.

How do I prepare for a PRP hair rejuvenation treatment?

Wash your hair

Make sure you wash your hair the morning of the day of treatment. Do not put any product in your hair.

After care

You will be advised not to wash your hair for 24 hours after treatment. After 24 hours you can start washing your hair as normal and you will be given a treatment serum to apply to treated areas daily.

How long does it take to see results from the microneedling skin treatments?

Microneedling (collagen induction therapy) is a wonderful investment in your skin that produces great results, but those results are not immediate, because the healing process is completed only after 4-6 weeks and collagen remodelling can linger for months.

3-4 sessions spead 4-6 weeks apart are recommended.

Results are most noticeable 1-3 months after the last session.

Result are not permanent, because skin aging is an unstoppable process. In addition, results are individual and greatly depend on the client’s individual skin parameters, life style, and adherence to
home-care routines.

How long does it take to see results from PRP/PRF hair rejuvenation treatments.

Similarly to microneedling, results will not be immediate. You will need to commit to at least 3-4 sessions to see results, and more may be needed to achieve greater results. After that, a maintenance treatment is recommended every 6-12 months to maintain results.
